Origins

Born in Barcelona and raised in Boston, I was given a piano at the age of 7. My family tells a story that from when I was very small, if ever I was upset, I went straight to the piano. That’s how they knew something was wrong! I could say something similar these days, though I feel that I’ve learned to channel a larger range of emotions toward my art. Still, most of my songs are sad stories.

I went to a small, almost brand new, performing and visual arts high school located across from Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts. Boston Arts Academy introduced me to collaboration and a serious consideration of art as career. Surrounded by actors, dancers, and artists of all types was, of course, inspiring and encouraging. This place taught me that no matter the form, having an outlet in the arts, especially as a teenager, is a lucky gift.

Entering Berklee College of Music in 2005, as a vocalist and pianist, I studied professional music and continued my musical education. After Berklee, I moved to New York with intentions of being in a band and writing my own songs. I wrote and recorded my first song, Don’t Blame Me, in a tiny apartment in Brooklyn using a hairbrush against my thigh for the percussions.

In 2012, I composed and recorded music for the indie film by Alvin CaseThe Whirlpool. Working with the ever-changing medium of film is magical, along with being exceptionally challenging. I gained a lot from this experience, most of all confidence in my own songs, as up until this point I had only performed and shared my music in collaboration with other musicians.

In the fall of 2018, I performed my first ever solo show of my songs at a barn in Warren, Maine. With producer Avi Vinocur (Goodnight, Texas), I have begun recording my solo debut Greatest Hits at 25th Street Recording Studios in Oakland, my lifetime goal of putting out a little album of sad songs finally becoming a reality.
